CANCELLED: Washington Day of Percussion/Pan Celebration 2020

ABOUT ABOUT

I regret to inform you that, based on alignment with other events in the Tacoma area and recommendations of best practices from Pacific Lutheran University administration, we have decided to cancel this Saturday’s event due to the potential for COVID-19 transmission. Some of the clinic rooms are small, and with our anticipated large crowd from all over the state, this was a risk we didn’t want to take. Our highest priority is keeping our community safe.

I was so looking forward to this incredible day of music with you, and I hope to schedule a very similar event for next year.

If you have purchased tickets online, they will be refunded. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with more questions.

All my best,
Bonnie Whiting

The second Pan Celebration steel pan festival held at Pacific Lutheran University is dedicated to connecting students and community members through steel pan music. With a focus on inclusion and community building -two integral components at the center of steel pan’s birth place in Trinidad and Tobago- the festival will feature Puyallup School District’s “Pans of Steel”, the PLU Steelband, the UW Steelband and the Anba Koko Women’s Steelband of Seattle. This event is hosted by Miho Takekawa, Greg Youtz, Sebastian Hernandez.
